ARTIST STATEMENT
Auto shows focus on two things, cars and women. Masculine cars present ideas of the perfect machine, while the women that are exhibited with the machines present ideas of the perfect body. Gender roles are assumed as the women and cars become objects of visual pleasure. Interactions that occur between the machines and the women result in brief moments where they surpass the separation between the two, merging into one form. There are no longer distinctions between the warm flesh of the women’s bodies and the cool metal of the cars. They lose their identities as they are viewed as one continuous surface that is defined by visual and tactile qualities.
