ARTIST STATEMENT These paintings are from photographs taken during a free-form life painting class with Jenn Grey. The use of a reference point, first in the models and again in the photograph, gives an image twice removed from the presence experienced in the classroom. In the process of trying to copy from a photograph I found a structure that I could resist wherein the opposition to the mechanical reproduction of the image lays the content. Adding further to the content was the somewhat charged subject matter of groups of nude figures.
