ARTIST STATEMENT

My work focuses on the recollection of memory, while fusing together found video and images from popular culture. Through re-appropriated images and personal vocal narratives the viewer experiences information that is identifiable, relatable and even at times laughable. Through utilizing found images and juxtaposing them with narrative and word play, I hope to create a push and pull with the seriousness and tension of my work. Through producing these pieces I begin to understand the physiological events that have transpired in my life and experience them on a new visual level. I deeply believe in sharing these events in hopes of opening up a dialogue of the hardships of childhood adolescence, abandonment and drug use in the household.
